Entertaiment is a wide variety of activities and entertainment sources that give people pleasure. It encompasses everything from an evening with a book and a glass of wine, to attending a concert or playing sports. Entertainment can be adapted to any scale, from an individual who selects his or her private entertainment from an enormous choice of pre-recorded products; through banquets adapted to any number of guests, and parties geared to any size group; to performances intended for thousands.
The word derives from the Medieval Latin intertenere, from the Indo-European root ten, meaning “stretch.”
